What We’re About
At Read Indie Fantasy we are deeply passionate about all things indie, and we believe that indie and self-published authors are the future of modern creativity, innovation, and diversity in the publishing industry.
We know that indie authors need more support finding a wider audience, and so we created this blog to not only showcase our favourite authors by curating a collection of quality indie fantasy and sci-fi books, but to also support and promote them.
Let us help you find your next favourite read!
We originally began our journey as Uncharted Library, a dedicated blog created by Nils and Trudie. We’ve now returned to continue our epic adventure under a brand new name.
Our Mission Statement
Though we enjoy traditionally published books, we want to be a voice supporting indie creatives. Our quest is to indulge in a variety of indie and self-published books and to share and promote those we love.
Our aims are to:
- Share and promote indie books
- Curate a collection of quality indie books
- Help readers find amazing new indie books
- Promote the unique books that indie authors struggle to market
- Support indies wherever possible
- Be a loud voice in the indie community
We’ll do this by posting regular reviews, news, and features about all things indie. We hope you’ll join us on our quest and help us grow to become a home for fans of indie and self-published books.
Our Policy on AI
We believe in the strength and innovation of human creativity. With that in mind, we won’t knowingly review or feature books that include AI written content or art and book covers designed using AI. As we’re only human, we may occasionally slip up. If you notice something on our blog that is AI generated, please let us know and we’ll investigate.
The art featured throughout our website is designed by Tithi Luadthong AKA grandfailure, a popular human artist that appears on many indie book covers. Each art piece was downloaded via Deposit Photos.
No reviews, articles, or written content on this website are produced using AI. Any mistakes you find on this website are purely human.

Nils Ödlund
Nils Ödlund is originally Swedish, spent a majority of his adult (well…) life in Cork, Ireland, and currently resides in Haarlem, Netherlands. He’s an avid reader, gamer, and fan of geek-culture.
Ödlund picked up writing as a hobby, almost by accident, back in 2010, and it quickly grew into something of an obsession. In 2017 he decided to get serious about it, and in early 2018, he published his debut novella Emma’s Story. He then spent several years writing and publishing the 10-book series Lost Dogs.
He’s currently working on a series by the name of Gone Home which picks up where Lost Dogs ends.
When not writing, Ödlund enjoys hiking through the countryside, reading, or playing games.
Unlike every other author in the history of all authors ever (citation needed), Ödlund does not have a cat.

Trudie Skies
Trudie Skies is a non-binary author based in North East England, though they have been living inside fantasy worlds ever since they discovered books and refuse to return to reality. Within Trudie’s daydreams you’ll find SPFBO and BBNYA finalist The Thirteenth Hour, a gaslamp fantasy described as obnoxiously British and best read with a cup of tea.
When not conjuring new worlds, Trudie spends their free time exploring the realms of indie books and video games, staring at clouds, and chasing after their fluffy companions.
