Announcing a Month of Rain and Reads… Coming this November!

If you’re new to Read Indie Fantasy, then allow us to introduce ourselves! We’re Nils, Tessa, and Trudie, three self-published authors who came together to celebrate indie and self-published fantasy, sci-fi, and speculative horror books. Our blog is all about indie authors and books, and we support authors with reviews, spotlights, cover reveals, interviews, features, and more!

Of course, we’re always looking for more ways to promote indie authors, which is why we’re launching an entire month dedicated to indie authors and their books.

Introducing A Month of Rain and Reads!

Beginning on November 1st and lasting the entire month, the purpose of the event is to celebrate and promote indie and self-published SFF books and offer recommendations in time for the holiday season. While the theme of the month has cozy autumnal vibes (and spring rains for our friends in the southern hemisphere), the books being celebrated don’t need to fit this theme – whether it’s the never ending rains of autumn, or the cleansing rains of spring, all books are welcome.

We’ll be celebrating by posting content and daily challenges on this blog, on our Bluesky account, and in our official Discord Server.

But we’d like YOU to get involved!

To make this event truly special, we’re looking for enthusiastic indie readers and authors to contribute posts or giveaways that we can then add to the blog. Examples of posts could be:

  • A review of an indie or self-published book you enjoyed
  • An article on a subject relating to indie books, writing, or self-publishing
  • A list of books you enjoyed and recommend based on a theme
  • An interview about your experiences as a indie reader, blogger, or author (We’ll provide the questions!)

Here are some ideas for guest posts to inspire you:

  • Top 10 books based around Autumn/Fall
  • A list of cozy indie books with recipes
  • Food, tea, or cocktails inspired by indie books
  • A list of my favourite indie books and why I recommend them
  • The best fantasy creatures in indie fantasy
  • Underrated indie sci-fi and/or horror
  • Reasons why you should read my book
  • Books that inspired me to become an author
  • How to get started as an indie author
  • How to make time to relax and de-stress as an author

We’re also going to be hosting a read-a-thon and daily challenges to encourage everyone to get involved with the event! For this, we’re hoping to host a few giveaways. If you’d like to contribute to a giveaway (such as an ebook) please let us know. We’re aiming to keep giveaways digital only to avoid issues with shipping and to ensure inclusivity around the world.

Interested? Then take a look at our sign-up sheet to get involved! Got any questions or suggestions? Head to our Discord Server!

Even if you can’t contribute content to the blog, we hope you’ll join us for A Month of Rain and Reads to spread the love of indie SFF books… And maybe take part in a challenge or two!

Save the date, as we’ll be starting the event November 1st!
