April is Autism Acceptance Month, which is the perfect time to celebrate autistic self-published and indie SFF authors here on Read Indie Fantasy! So many marginalised authors find themselves pushed out of traditional publishing, which results in a lack of authentic representation in fiction, and autistic authors are no stranger to this. Many authors turn to indie and self-publishing as the only way to share their voice and lived experience, and the indie scene is where you’ll find these authentic stories.
These authors deserve our support, so here are forty books by autistic self-published and indie SFF authors to get you started. Many feature autistic characters, but not all will.
Note: books are linked to a Itch.io or direct store where possible as these give authors the biggest boost to royalties and give you a DRM-free reading experience.
