Welcome to our Saturday Spotlight feature where we at Read Indie Fantasy will be hosting a new spotlight every Saturday to showcase the incredible talent of self-published fantasy authors!
Please welcome A. P. Howell and Corners of the Deep Dark, the first book in The Deep Dark space opera series.

There are many places to run and hide in the deep dark between the stars
Xan is the owner/operator of the Kitrino Alogo, a small, scrappy freighter and courier vessel. There’s a viable living to be eeked out making last-mile cargo runs and subcontracting from bigger corporations…especially when you supplement your income with the occasional bit of smuggling or other illegality.
Raj is the proprietor of a bar on a station where people don’t ask too many questions. That’s working out very well and involves fewer people shooting at him than previous careers—until the appearance of an old friend who is rapidly acquiring new problems.
One of Xan’s side jobs has gone unexpectedly sideways. She and Raj are on the run for their lives, desperate to learn why stolen data—supposedly low-level blackmail material—is worth killing over. And what, if anything, can convince the interested parties not to kill them.

About the Author
A. P. Howell lives with her spouse and their two kids. Her day jobs have spanned the alphabet from archivist to webmaster and she has a master’s degree in history (which is not wholly irrelevant when writing fiction about things that didn’t happen in places that don’t exist).
Her short fiction has appeared in various magazines, podcasts, and anthologies, including ParSec, Translunar Travelers Lounge, The Cosmic Background, The NoSleep Podcast, Bicycles & Broomsticks (Elly Blue Publishing) and Animal Noir (Little Key Press). Howell’s stories have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Brave New Weird Award and Honorably Mentioned in Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year. Corners of the Deep Dark is the first novel in a space opera series.
