Welcome to A Month of Rain and Reads

Welcome to A Month of Rain and Reads

Welcome to day one of A Month of Rain and Reads, our very first month-long event dedicated to self-published and indie fantasy, sci-fi, and horror with speculative elements. For the entire month of November, weโ€™ll be posting a collection of content to our blog celebrating these authors and books, including:

  • Book Reviews
  • Book Recommendations
  • Author Interviews
  • Guest Posts
  • Spotlights
  • Book Launches
  • Daily Challenges and Giveaways!
  • And More!

Want to take part? Join our Discord server or follow us on Bluesky to take part in our themed Daily Challenge where you could win ebooks from a range of wonderful indie authors! Please also share our posts so more readers can find them and discover new indie authors.

We hope you enjoy the posts and the event! These posts were generously written by members of the indie author community, so thank you to them for giving us their time. A big thanks also to Arden Powell for designing the incredible banner for A Month of Rain and Reads.

Are you sitting comfortably? Then letโ€™s get reading!

The Daily Challenge

The Daily Challenge is a fun way to share indie books that fit a theme. Each day will bring a new theme and feature a giveaway to win a free ebook related to that theme! For example, our first challenge is to share the biggest, chonkiest indie book youโ€™ve read by posting your book in our Discord server or replying to our Daily Challenge post on Bluesky. Reviews and discussion of these books are encouraged!

Hereโ€™s our daily challenge post schedule for the month:

A new daily challenge will be posted every day. To enter the giveaway, reply with your response to the challenge and weโ€™ll pick a random winner when the next challenge is posted. Each giveway is open internationally.

Be sure to use the #AMoRaR hashtag on Bluesky!

With thanks to Tessa Hastjarjanto for putting the Daily Challenge together.

Who Are Read Indie Fantasy?

Our blog has been around for a while and originally launched under the name Uncharted Library before re-branding ourselves around our mission โ€“ to read indie fantasy! Weโ€™re a small team of self-published authors with a goal to support and promote other self-published and indie authors who write fantasy, sci-fi, and horror with speculative elements.

Weโ€™ve worked hard to organise this event, so please show some love to Nils ร–dlund, Trudie Skies, and Tessa Hastjarjanto!

You can learn more about us and our mission statement on our About page.

Got Questions? Suggestions?

If youโ€™ve got a question or would like to make a suggestion regarding the event, then head on over to our Discord server, where weโ€™ll be happy to have you! Alternatively, you can send us an email or contact us via our Bluesky account. Weโ€™ll be here all month!
