Today we’re excited to host a cover reveal for The Gone Machine by Aimee Cozza, the third book in The Machines series of sci-fi novellas that can be read as a standalone and has launched a Backerkit campaign as part of The Book Bazaar 2026.
I recently read, reviewed, and loved the first two books in The Machines series, The Warm Machine and The Lucky Machine, which are fantastic stories about sentient bots learning about human emotions. This third book, The Gone Machine, focusses on the cyborg character of Sylvan and handles themes of grief, loss, and legacy.
The Gone Machine, The Lucky Machine and The Warm Machine are all love-letters-to-sci-fi books, with a special focus on robots and cyborgs, and have a ton of sci-fi nods. If you love Asimov’s works, LD&R, The Murderbot Diaries, Detroit: Become Human, or the Bot & Monk series, you’ll enjoy The Gone Machine.

Let’s learn more about it:
Sylvan’s cyborg body is broken, his friend is missing, he’s being haunted, and yet a well-known fashion mogul has offered him the business deal of a lifetime. When Sylvan’s ghost turns out to be a digital passenger in his cybernetics, another apparition appears at his doorstep: a familiar looking robot named Fern. Despite forging powerful allies and working diligently to repay his debt of gratitude, Sylvan can’t shake the persistent reminders of his long-lost housebot, Robbie. The ghost has some of Robbie’s memories, but Fern has Robbie’s body… Is it possible one of them is actually Robbie, or are even bots incapable of outrunning death?
