At Read Indie Fantasy, we’re passionate about supporting indie and self-published SFF authors and are always looking for new ways of showing our support, as well as helping you, our dear reader, to find exciting new books.
So we’re pleased to introduce our new Author Direct Sales Book Collection, which lists SFF indie authors who sell their books directly, either on their website or through websites such as Payhip, Kofi, Etsy, Itch.io or anywhere else where they get to keep a greater share of their profits.
Why buy a book direct from the author when online retailers such as Amazon or Kobo exist?
For one, buying directly from the author means that the author has greater control of their books distribution. This means avoiding restrictions online retailers may place on them, such as DRM or censorship – which is becoming more of a concern regarding LGBTQIA+ books and those with adult content.
Authors can also provide extra goodies and incentives, such as signed paperback copies.
Authors can also keep more of your money, as they won’t need to share royalties or pay upload fees.
Lastly, if you’re trying to boycott certain online retailers, then buying books directly from the author is the best way to support them AND get some amazing books!
