It’s that time of the year when we all dig out our advent calendars and start the countdown to the holiday season with a tiny piece of chocolate. But we at Read Indie Fantasy wanted to start a fun little tradition with our own advent calendar.
The holiday season is a difficult time for indie and self-published authors to make sales, partly because the larger publishers tend to dominate the market at this time of year. So we wanted to help out by spreading a little festive cheer and putting the spotlight on indie authors that need more love!
For twenty-four days this December, we’ll be opening our advent calendar to an underrated indie author that we think should be on your TBR! Every day, we’ll be hosting a spotlight for an indie book that has less than 50 reviews on Goodreads (as of this date) with a mix of authors that we’ve previously reviewed on our blog, and other authors that have been recommended to us as criminally underrated. In choosing these twenty-four authors, we’re aiming our sights at authors who might not have a large following, and who haven’t been a finalist in SPFBO previously.
Each day, we’ll fill in our little advent calendar and hope that you give these authors a chance! Nothing would make their Christmas more special than a bump in book sales. Of course, there’s more than twenty-four underrated authors out there in the world, so please share your recommendations for indie and self-published authors who need more eyes on their work.
Our first author will be revealed tomorrow, on December 1st!
